SUPERFOOD OF THE WEEK: OATMEAL

***SUPERFOOD OF THE WEEK: INSTANT OATMEAL
(Unsweetened, Unflavored)

Oatmeal is loaded with powerful complex carbs and fiber. It helps fight against heart disease, colon cancer, obesity, and diabetes. Oatmeal should be a staple in everyo
ne's daily diet. When eaten in the morning it serves as a great fuel to get you going on sluggish mornings. When eaten before your workout it helps boost your energy levels to make the best out of your workout. Eat oatmeal at night to avoid a late-night binge. Make sure you are buying the plain unsweetened, unflavored oats. Make it tasty by adding some other superfoods like milk and berries. Cinnamon is also a great way to sweeten up your oatmeal. Flavored, sweetened oatmeal contains lots of sugar calories. A study out of Penn State showed that oatmeal sustains your blood sugar levels longer than many other foods, which in turn keeps your insulin levels stable and keeps you from becoming hungry so fast. This is good because spikes in insulin slow your metabolism and send a signal to your body that it's time to start storing fat. Oatmeal breaks down slowly in the stomach and causes much less of a spike in insulin levels than foods such as bagels or pop tarts. Still not convinced oatmeal is for you??!? Here's another fun fact about oatmeal. Studies indicate that oatmeal raises the levels of free testosterone in your body which enhances our body's ability to build muscle, burn fat, and boost our sex drive.

"Like" this post if your going to start eating more OATMEAL!!! :-)
